Every culture in history has had ideas about men, women, and love. And for every book of rules and roles that's ever been dreamed up, there have been people who complicated it: men who loved men, women who loved women, and people who the ideas of "man" and "woman" couldn't fully explain.
These people left behind traces that survive until today: ancient love letters, myths and legends, a remarkable amount of erotic fiction, and a few glimpses of diverging paths in history that could have made the present very different. I'm a collector of these stories, and they're too good not to share.
Listen to a first episode below - the story of how Florence during the Renaissance tried to persecute sodomites and accidentally created one of the best views in history into the lives of men who loved other men. Would love to hear your thoughts via the Contact page.
